Panda’s No Cook Friday: Huge Success

Were you part of our temple’s recent "Panda-Moni-Yum!” (Right, pandemonium!)

Friday, February 9, 2024, was a No Cook Friday, a.k.a. the Buddhist Church of Sacramento Panda Express fundraiser to help with our security budget. A huge thank you to all who ordered Panda Express on No Cook Friday.

Buddhist Church of Sacramento member Kyle Adachi and his fiance Mai Cheng were among the supporters of our No Cook Friday fundraiser. Thank you!

Karen Adachi, the President of the Buddhist Church of Sacramento Board of Trustees, reported that the cost of security has grown tremendously since pre-Covid times. To make our temple safe and secure, we hire security whenever there are youth and large gatherings onsite. The safety and well-being of our Sangha and visitors are a top priority.

Karen announced, “Because of the support from members and friends of the temple, we raised over $2,100 on No Cook Friday to help defray the cost of security.” She further reported, “Orders were placed from U.S. locations as far west in Hawaii to as far east in Florida, and of course throughout the greater Sacramento region.”

Because this was our first time participating in the fundraising partnership with Panda Express, the Buddhist Church of Sacramento received 33% of the online sales purchased using our special fundraising code on this day. If you do the math, Panda Express did pretty well with total sales from the (hungry) Buddhist Church of Sacramento supporters, and so did we!

Gochisousamadeshita (expressing heartfelt thanks for a meal).
